This photo grabbed the headlines last year after a woman noticed it hanging on a wall at a dining hub in Seattle and posted it to Facebook. Can you guess why she was amazed?
The photo was taken at Dominion Creek, Yukon Territory, a remote location in Canada near the border with Alaska in 1898. The photographer, Eric A Hegg’s caption read: "Youths operating gold mines on Dominion. Klondyke, YT".
The resemblance of the girl on the left to climate activist Greta Thunberg is quite uncanny. The photograph is part of the University of Washington Libraries, Special Collections. Washington University says the photo is authentic. It makes you think about your own historical lookalikes, and how far back you’d need to go to find one.
