It was on January 31st, back in 1606 when Guy Fawkes died. He was one of the chief conspirators in the plot to blow up the British Parliament building, the Gunpowder Plot. Guy Fawkes had been found lurking in the cellar, alongside nearly two tons of gunpowder.
Under interrogation he admitted being part of an English Catholic conspiracy to annihilate England’s entire Protestant government, including King James 1st who would have been in parliament on that fateful day, November 5th, 1605. The executions of the chief conspirators began on January 30th, but it was the 31st when Guy Fawkes met his fate.
Interestingly, he actually jumped whilst climbing to the hanging platform, which broke his neck and killed him instantly, which technically makes it suicide, I guess.
