We've been open for a few months now at our History Project HQ, Deal's Community History Hub, and we're going from strength to strength.  Like all endeavours though it has been very, very challenging but I'm overcoming all the obstacles in our path.  The biggest challenge for me has always been raising revenue.  As an organisation we believe in supporting our community and inspiring the next generation, and we do this by delivering community projects, supporting our fellow organisations and of course rolling out a wide range of educational experiences to local schools at absolutely no cost.  We don't enjoy fundraising, it's incredibly hard and soul destroying at times, but it's necessary in order to raise funds to visit schools.  So we're happy to ask for a donation or pass a bucket round at our community shows, but it's not ideal.  It's not nice nice asking people for money, even if it is to support a great cause.  Our plan is to be able to stand on our own two-feet as an organisation and raise money in the traditional way in order to pay the bills.  How can you help? Simply by grabbing a cup of coffee from us when you visit Deal Train Station to jump on the train.  It really is that simple.

We all love a nice drink don't we.  On a personal level I absolutely love coffee.  So much so I once travelled out to Colombia and spent an entire day at a coffee farm studying it's history.  It came as no surprise to learn that when coffee was first discovered it didn't take long before it became associated with religious practices, similar to many other stimulants and drugs from coca to magic mushrooms.  Primarily it was consumed in the Islamic world, so understandably it helped its consumers fast in the day and stay awake at night, during the Muslim celebration of Ramadan.

Today when the machine arrived I tested them out, and was really quite impressed... and I am a massive coffee snob.  So come on down, grab a cup and support an amazing cause.  Finally just a huge thanks to all of our sponsors whose continued support makes a world of difference.  Many thanks.
